How We Started Get Set Education
We are a Queensland-based RTO that helps high school teachers equip their students with skills for life and a pathway into university or work.
Discover our coursesGet Set Education was founded in 2017 by Queensland-based teacher, Kate Taylor.
As a teacher, Kate soon discovered that most Vocational Education and Training (VET) content taught in secondary schools wasn’t relevant or accessible to students. And she’d been frustrated by how high course prices led to many students missing out on valuable training opportunities. She saw the need for another option that would give students practical qualifications, relevant training, and great value for money.
Kate launched Get Set to help more students achieve their potential — beyond the traditional uni/TAFE/trades pathways. And to equip Australian teachers and high schools with the resources and support they need to offer these exciting new alternative pathways!
7+ years later, Get Set Education has helped hundreds of students across 20+ schools get set with nationally recognised qualifications, practical business skills, and a clear direction for their future career or studies. Best of all, we’re only just getting started!

Meet Kate, Managing Director
Kate Taylor is the Founder and Managing Director of Get Set Education.
Conect on LinkedInA registered teacher with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) with qualifications in business, education, and training & assessment, Kate is uniquely equipped to lead students through Get Set Education’s business courses. She comes with a diverse teaching and training background, including secondary schools, RTOs, and universities.
Kate's colleagues and students describe her as caring, enthusiastic, reliable, approachable, and an exceptional communicator. She's super organised and great at managing her time (and her students' time!).
In her downtime, you’ll probably find Kate hanging with her dogs, training for an upcoming event, or crocheting something cute.
